Had the festive meal, main and dessert. Expected piping hot turkey dinner. This was only warm. My roast potatoes were surprisingly cold and soggy. Very suspect and different to what the rest of my party had which were crispy and steam flowing out once cut. Felt like recycled spuds on my plate!. Xmas pud was very nice. Staff were very polite and professional. Chef needs feedback.
Went to the Red Lion for the first time today for lunch. Good choice of food on the menu. Our food was excellent both starter and main course, well cooked and delicious. Very good value for money. My only criticism was that the service was very slow considering that there were only three covers. Although slow the staff were very pleasant. It was so unusual to be advised as soon as we sat down that one of the starters was unavailable, normally one only gets told when you order the item. Full marks!! Would Thoroughly recommend and will return.
Ordered a take-away Roast as im 3 weeks post surgery and didn’t feel like cooking. Well!!!! If THIS is the food you get from them, boxed and delivered I cannot wait to be well enough to visit in person!! Well worth the cost, delicious and extremely generous portions. I will be ordering a smaller one for myself next time. Thank you guys for making my Sunday!!! Ordered a Lamb, Beef and Chicken (couldn’t get pic of beef).
Had a fantastic lamb roast and my daughter had a beef burger. She is a fussy eater but she demolished this burger. Nice pub great food.
Fabulous food for Christmas! We booked the Christmas Dinner and it was utterly delightful and delicious. Drink, bread and a savoury with sweet maple sauce quickly greated usm We had crispy potato skins and the home made festive meat slice, then the Roast Turkey, home made Salmon en croute and beef fillet with stilton and peppercorn pie! The servings were good, the Yorkshire pudding perfect, the gravy was rich and the beef pie was astonishingly tasty. Deserts went down well, the roulade as popular and the Sherry Trifle Cheesecake quite nice. Aspirations for the cheese board were well intended but we decided we were brimfull and very satisfied. The pub was nicely laid out, it was a lovely atmosphere but you could chat and hear and service was at your pace and quite tailored. We had everything we wanted but one felt that asking for extra gravy or something else would have been welcomed. As we left, warm, full and feeling very well looked after, we agreed that work permitting we'd be back next Christmas day but we'd be back sooner for the excellent meals.
