First visit. Good atmosphere and "the guvnor" was a nice bloke. Different range of beers to run of the mill pubs and not overpriced. Come again when my lifts are this way!!
My experience of the Red House, is probably unique so my review has taken some things into account. I was on a mystery bus tour to four pubs. The Red House was first. Some bright spark organising the trip thought it a good idea to have 50 people descend on this quaint little pub all at once. It was not a pretty sight, though everyone laughed it off. Once everyone was inside it was like a conga line throughout the bar, when someone was served, they went to the back of the queue and started again. Minus the 50 people the pub was actually quite nice. Eclectic in its furnishings, the staff were really friendly. The beer (ale) was great. With a small party of people (not 50) I can see anyone having a relaxing enjoyable time here, well worth a visit.
Lovely place to relax and chat with the very friendly locals. Always a warm welcome from Joe and Angela. Great choice of real ales, cask beers, bottled beers and ciders, as well as a large selection of top quality single malt whiskeys.
Absolutely fantastic venue, small, but with the widest range of real ales I've seen in a micro pub, visited last Saturday night when we were fully entertained by Mr'Gypsy'Dave Smith, .
Superb little micropub in Chopwell village with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. 4 well kept handpulls to choose from and a selection of craft beers, ciders and lagers and most are locally sourced. Nice selection of bottles and cans from the fridge too and a range of Gin's, wines and spirits to keep everybody with a thirst happy. Lots of old photos of Chopwell dotted about on the walls, showing the mining history of the village. A small, but well stocked bookcase in the corner if you fancy a read with your pint. Dog friendly.
