Formerly called the Woodman. Recently reverted to original name: the Rawdon Arms after the local mine which closed in the 1980s, the pub has a large L-shaped single room with comfortable seating. The walls are covered with commemorative plates depicting local coal mines, the last one closing in 1990. There is a separate pool and games room which can be converted to a dining area or meeting room. It was voted local CAMRA Most Improved Pub in 2004.
Traditional pub with great ales and super staff.
Man's Pub but very clean and cosy if you want to take a Dame !
Dog friendly pub only stopped for a quick drink, bar staff friendly and so was the locals. Football was being shown on the tv. They served a lovely pint. Will pop in again when passing
This is the BEST pub i go in.I live in Barton under Needwood but will drink in this fantastic pub whenever i get the chance. In my opinion there is no pub like it. 'Curly' the gaffer keeps fantastic ales. The Abbott is the best for miles. A pub is as good as the people that use it and on top of that is the quality of beers which makes it my favourite boozer. Well done 'Curly' and staff. BRILLIANT.
Despite living within a couple miles, this was my first visit. Very impressed, for a small pub in this area, 4 cask beers and we'll kept. Really enjoyed the visit, proper locals pub but very welcoming to all. I'm pretty sure I'll be back!
