At the Railway Inn in St. Agnes, we pride ourselves on catering for all your needs in a warm and friendly environment. Dating back to the early 19th Century, our Grade II listed pub was previously called the ‘Smiths Arms’ and then ‘Smiths & Railway Arms’.
We’re proud to offer a menu packed with the most appetising dishes. Our passion for taking traditional pub classics and making them the best around by using the most decadent of ingredients, makes every meal served have you coming back time and time again!.

My Great Grandfather worked here back in the early 1900's.. since then it has gone downhill. Staff were uninspiring and food was basic level pub grub.
Visited the Railway Inn for food recently and will not be going back. Myself and a friend got there early afternoon and had a look at the very uninspiring menu. I am a vegetarian and the lack of options was disappointing but I chose the plant based burger and my friend ordered a beef burger. The person behind the bar (young guy) turned around to tell a woman (bluey hair, wearing a formula 1 T-shirt) that there was a food order, she shrugged it off and carried on watching the formula 1…I was shocked. When the food eventually came out we were both confused about how small the portions were and found the food very bland and average. The only positive experience was another guy who was behind the bar at one point who actually spoke to us and one other person in the pub (nobody had made conversation with us before this) however when he was talking, the woman with the bluey hair (who was now drinking a pint which isn’t professional in my opinion if she is responsible for cooking) shouted at him for standing around chatting. Oh and to top it off my friend had a dodgy stomach the next day. If you like being ignored, made to feel in the way and enjoy less than average overpriced food then this is the place for you!
Arrived early evening (5pm) on the first night of our holiday looking for food only to be greeted by staff who seemed very put out that we hadn't booked in advance. We were told it was curry night and we shouldn't have looked on the website for their menu because they don't serve everything on that menu. They only have a tiny kitchen and can't provide a full menu. Just felt like we were a complete inconvenience to them, so we left. Would recommend booking if you want a friendlier experience!
Even though I phoned after booking via Open Table (the booking system on the pub's website) to confirm (after seeing other comments on here about there being no record of bookings) & spoke to a lady who confirmed the booking, when we arrived they had no record of our booking in their diary. They also told us the kitchen was out of action & that if we were in their diary they would have phoned us. Luckily we found somewhere else that could accommodate us.
Brilliant food, really friendly staff. A proper local place with a big garden, dog friendly too. Really recommend!
