Looked like a great place, went in New Years day, not 1 customer in the whole pub, bought our drinks & headed towards the table near the fire for us to dry off after a walk to fleswick bay, only to be told all the tables were reserved. So I said so we can't sit down? We were told there was a quiz at 3pm (it was 1.30) so instead of us allowing to have our one drink on one of the tables they said we could go sit in the pool room, dirty, smelly & cold. When we drank up we took our glasses back and there still was not a single soul in, they could have let us have any table, we would of moved in the unlikely event that all the 30-40 tables customers all suddenly decended. Will never go back. Shocking service.
Absolutely love this pub great service beer kept well .aka for me Carling. cold and perfect unlike other places
We drove over for one night as a break, What a Meal.....we had the salt and pepper chicken to start and the Wagyu burger for our main ....I'd drive back there from newcastle just to eat there, unreal food if I could put 6 stars on this review I would....and Hobgoblin on draft !!!! .....need a place like this in Newcastle
A great place! We were staying in St Bees on our holiday, we ended up visiting the pub no less than 3times for dinner within our weeks stay. Food was nice with a good children's menu. The waitressing staff were all really friendly and welcoming. Outside beer garden area was also very nice.
I didn't have a room here but visited with my brother for a meal, had a good few games of pool on the pool table, an excellent starter, and a massive gammon steak I ate using only a fork. Not expensive, not cheap either - but worth every penny. Will definitely eat here again.
