Very friendly greeting. Warm & welcoming staff. One of my top 3 WORLDWIDE visits for notable ambiance in the middle of nowhere. Unplaned stay in their River Suite. Woke up to the sound of Canadian Geese on the bank of the Nene River just outside the bedroom window. Absolutely must for a revisit.

Really lovely pub situated in a gorgeous country village. Very friendly and cosy with good hearty food. The rooms are a little tired but this is reflected in the price. The room we had was warm, comfortable and had a lovely shower. I believe the owners are new, so hopefully in time they will improve the rooms, as it has the potential to be absolutely wonderful. Lots of very pretty towns and villages nearby and we did some nice walks in the surrounding countryside. We also visited the Lyveden National Trust which was fab for the children to have a good run around.

New owners. The pub has real promise. We had a delicious meal. The menu needs a bit of work but we will definitely return.

Great pub, cask ale, good restaurant. And great staff. Rooms a bit grim (dark, dingy) but clean. Need to sort the room heating out (thermostats+general timer) but otherwise great place away from the chaos. Good luck.

Wow, what a find! Rocked up late on a Saturday hoping to relax with a beer, and good to see a local Nene Valley brewery on cask. Was absolutely starving after a long drive from Manchester, and asked for a pork pie more in hope than everything else. Was astonished when the friendly new owner said he could knock up braised beef, mash and peas, especially as last orders had already been called. This proved to be delicious and just what was needed. Can't thank the owner enough for going the extra mile at this late time. Room was great, with lovely views over the lake, and squirrels going about their business as the sun rose. All the rooms were step free too, ideal for those with mobility problems. Fully recommended and will return! Brilliant place and I wish the new owner the best of luck in making this pub the best in the area.
