About us

On Mondays and Tuesdays, the bar is open from 3pm – 8pm and we serve a small selection of bar snacks.

Enjoy locally sourced, freshly prepared food in our beautiful Grade II listed pub. We have a regularly changing menu with daily specials, an extensive wine and gin collection and superb local cask ales. As a freehouse, we like to support breweries in and around East Anglia (just as well we produce some of the best ales in the country in this area, then!)

This astounding 16th century building was purchased from Adnams by a private buyer in 2016, and has been lovingly restored to showcase its original beams, large open fireplaces and elegant vaulted ceiling. Bramfield itself is a fascinating little village, and is home to the only church in Suffolk with a detached round bell tower. You can read more here (source: Bramfield and Thorington website)

Dogs kept on a lead are most welcome, with both the main bar and Long Bar being available to dine with your four legged friends. Complimentary Bonios are always behind the bar, along with water bowls! Not a dog fan? No problem – simply request your table in the Snug, our pretty restaurant area. Please note that we do not allow dogs in the Snug.

Unbelievable what an excellent find. The best place I've been in a very long time. We visited on new year's eve and had the most fantastic tasty meal with exceptional service from all the workers. Nothing was too much trouble and the food and desserts were incredible. I wish I lived closer as I'd visit every week

Great venue, service excellent and the three Sunday roast dinners two roast beef and one pork were very nice and tasty. Good selection of vegetables and the pork crackling was delicious. Only slight downside was that all three plates were lukewarm, as we were the first customers of the day we assume plate warmers had just been put on We did mention this to staff when paying and it was noted. This will not stop us returning to have another great meal.

Attended Autumn Pudding Night Friday 13th October. Another fantastic night our party had both sea bass and beef both were amazing but the highlight of the night the 10 pudding options. Absolutely superb 😍Managed 2 extra portions of the terrine. The staff, atmosphere and value for money make this evening a must. 💖

Great roast pork. We found the Queen's Head after being disappointed that everywhere we tried in Southwold and Walberswick didn't do Sunday lunch during the summer months. Highly recommended. Excellent waiting staff too.
