Very disappointing Sunday Roast. Clearly everything was cooked from frozen, my partner even had a piece of cauliflower on her plate that was still frozen. Thin slices of frozen turkey, potato’s had no colour and not at all crispy, and frozen vegetables. The Yorkshire puddings were good though. Red flags were already raised when the food came out 5 minutes after we ordered it. Unfortunate because it’s a lovely looking pub in a great setting, but the food really let it down
Came here after a night in the new forest. Did fancy a roast dinner, but unfortunately due to supplier issues only roast dinner could be served for pre booked guests only. Which we were both good with. These things happen. Went for lasagne and garlic bread which was delicious and warm. For dessert apple tart, did find the tart bit a bit too soft, but other than that it was delicious and warming in this cold weather we are having. Pub is dog friendly which I certainly enjoyed, love seeing dogs in pubs. Gave it a nice family atmosphere. Gareth was our server, he was kind and friendly throughout our meal. Next time we are in the new forest (Burley area) we will certainly come again.
Was out in the forest walking with the family and decided stopnfor a spot of lunch, nice pub, welcoming staff and great food. They have a lovey outside seating area although it's a bit cold to sit outside lucky for us we were allowed our small dog in.
Went in at 8:48pm on Sunday 10th December after a long drive. Was in need of a drink. The barman came back to the bar where he proceeded in an unfriendly manor to refuse to serve me as he said he had called time. He said they close at 9pm despite what is advertised. I advised him that if 9pm is close then surely 8:50 is last orders. And 9pm is time? Still a refusal. A very disappointing visit. And I feel that the hospitality industry is not perhaps for this individual. UPDATE! I have since read your response. And telephoned you today. No early close due to works were discussed when I came in. No explanation was given at all. He also told me that I could not have a drink as he had done the tills. You told me on the telephone today about works allegedly happening on a Sunday night. I did not see any vans in the car park that evening though. Had the simple and honest truth been given upon the visit. Then maybe there would not be the need to write this. Even earlier on the phone, no sign of an apology. Or “sorry for your inconvenience “.
Good pub,dog friendly at designated areas, we arived and they had no chicken or salad so I had the sirlion steak which was a bit chewy but it filled the gap along with the few chips on the side,
