Clem Eastel and her team look forward to welcoming you to the Punch Bowl, Bristol, our gem located in the heart of vibrant Old Market.
This listed building is whispered to date all the way back to 1806. Owned by various wine merchants throughout the years, it wasn’t until 1872 that the pub first opened its doors as the Punch Bowl.
The Punch Bowl Ale House and Kitchen is an ale and craft beer venue with, as our name suggests, the added attraction of an enticing and diverse food offer.
On the bar, we have a selection of rotating Wickwar ales, craft cider and lagers alongside an exciting selection of spirits for those cocktail moments.
When you enter the pub and you will be greeted with a cosy and intimate lounge area, perfect for Sunday lunches with the gang or a lunchtime rendezvous with your workmates.
Beyond the bar is the open kitchen and main dining area, leading through to our modernised and enchanting, heated beer garden – an ideal space for those balmy summer evenings or winter warmer occasions.
We are happy to cater for small events with the pub available to hire for work functions, meetings or birthday celebrations.
Clem and her team look forward to welcoming you to the Punch Bowl very soon.

Ideal place to watch the football with so many screens both inside and outside. It’s £5 for an Inches which is a bit steep when Long Bar is just opposite and half the price. The burger and pint deal (£14) also isn’t the best value as the burger was very mid. However, the atmosphere is lively and the bartenders are great so would recommend if you’re sticking to drinks.
Tasty burger on a rainy afternoon. Staff super helpful and friendly. Rufus the Daxie loved it too.
Amazing little find. Fancied a drink then decided to stay for the roast which was not disappointing. Great service from Kate, fresh and tasty food from the kitchen.
We managed to get a table booking only a day in advance and I will Definitely be adding the Punchbowl to my ‘Sunday Lunch’ spots in Bristol. Delicious Roast, Beef was beautifully pink and very well cooked. Looking around the room the chicken and roast pork belly also looked great. The service and hospitality from the staff was great, we were even given a free extra bowl of roast potatoes as they had extra at the end of service which was well appreciated. No complaints here, would highly recommend!
It's been a while since I've been in here. A good decision to walk in when we were looking for Sunday lunch today. Food and service were both excellent. Visited again today (October 2022) and the Sunday roast was still as good. No starters or puddings on offer, but the roast is right up there with the best in Bristol. And still a proper friendly welcome from the staff. Great place.
