Visited on a Shearing's Christmas break, the hotel is in dire need of an update. Although it was well decorated for the event, it is rather shabby. Our room was(310) very cold with only a convector heater (broken foot) as the radiator did not work. The bathroom had no heating whatsoever along with no facilities for storage of toiletries, with a shower that is small with the most sensitive controls that when you turn it on you have a good chance of being scolded by red hot water . Food. The most disappointing of all for me, I expected a reasonable quality meal as the hotel has been in business for many years, what I received was poorly cooked food. Vegetables cooked within an inch of its life, bacon at breakfast which you could soul your shoes. Cheap food produce used throughout every meal. The staff in the restaurant were superb friendly and very helpful, in fact we have to compliment the all staff working in difficult circumstances as they are obviously under staffed Buffet. Disaster would be the only word I could use for the Christmas evening buffet, it was advertised as 19.30 start, not ready still staff covering the tables when we arrived just after start time, told buffet available until 21.00, after about fifteen minutes I decided to return but found a queue almost to reception, l decided that I would wait and return later, still a queue but not as many people, I then found out that the sandwiches had run out and there was not much left on offer. When I reached the table all I found was one destroyed sandwich, a dish of whitebait which looked like the starter from the previous dinner along with garlic mushrooms from the lunchtime starter, plus other half empty serving dishes, We asked the servers if more sandwiches were being made? Only to be answered by blank looks, eventually one member of staff said she would find out what the situation was returning saying that they were being made after thirty minutes a tray of tuna mayonnaise sandwiches appeared (badly presented), by this time I was pretty fed up and wandered away, only to see other guests going back to the buffet as they had heard the more food was arriving which turned out to be one small tray of cheese or ham sandwiches. Very disappointed with the whole aspect of the stay.

Just back after a 5 day break staying at The Prince regent Hotel in Weymouth, coach travel was very good there and back, The bedroom we had was spacious and clean and comfortable. Meals were good with no problems, Service was very good. And served on time.I would go again to this hotel.

Was originally given a basement room. Don't go there! Was eventually given another room up in the loft. I liked it. Sea view. Friendly seagull on the windowsill. Comfortable room. Cosy. Service at mealtimes a bit slow. Need more staff. Quality of meals not like they used to be. Sign of the times. Overall, enjoyed the holiday

I was very unfortunate to have spent the past 4 nights in this hotel. The room was spacious with the wallpaper coming off the walls. The window opened but the outside window sill was so rotten and like sawdust , that, everytime we opened the window the rotten bits blew into room. Although the room had recently had a new carpet, it was a pity whoever laid it didn't ensure that the floor was level prior to laying the carpet. The area to the ensuite has a very uneven rise under the carpet, and anyone with inability to pick feet up could very easily have an accident. The ensuite is small and obviously hasn't had a thorough clean or partial clean within a long time. There was a smell of damp and there was visible mould on walls surrounding bath. There was a considerable amount of mould from the bath up the side of the sink. Rusting around taps both on bath and sink. The most health and safety concerns other than mentioned above was that the toilet seat was not fixed to the toilet and moved from side to side when sat on. This was reported to reception on first evening and at following morning and evening with a assurance three times it would be fixed. Unfortunately my friend who was on holiday with me slipped off of the toilet and ended up half in bath and knees on floor. Again this was reported to the Hotel manager who said he would have it sorted, not once did he enquire as to how my friend was whom was stood right by me, he more concerned as to why his maintenance team hadn't repaired it. The night porter soon afterwards appeared at our door to look at the toilet seat. He went and fetched a brand new one and conquently the problem was sorted. I do question as to whether this accident was reported in the Hotels accident book as this was a reportable accident that have been prevented. Two separate occasions part of the ceiling fell down in the bar and the quiet reading room opposite restaurant. The food, what can I say about it. It was cheap, mostly frozen vegetables that were either undercooked or overcooked, of which we are certain that the cook because I cannot bring myself call them chefs loved rosemary and herbs as it was on most of everything on the roast dinners served. The cuts of meat beef, pork, chicken were not good quality as pork had loads of fat on it and beef was inedible due to Grissel in it. I have a tomato allergy and this was highlighted verbally and written on menu forms. First night I was presented with a salad that had tomato seeds on the lettuce, I sent it back and I was presented with an overcrowded plateful of packet mixed salad leaves and cucumber with tomato seeds on. That night my meal consisted of two slices of ham and a bowl of soup. I could not take the chance of ordering salad for the remainder of our stay as the trust was not there. All staff should be aware and take seriously people's allergies as anaphylaxis is not nice and can be fatal. Bar staff were very pleasant but the young male that was on reception one day, shocked me as to how he spoke to a customer as if he wasn't important and that the manager had more important things to do. He consequently stopped short his conversation to speak to me. I can honestly say that the hotel owner who owns the adjoining hotel also needs to improve the overall cleanliness, structure and decor, improve customer service , and lastly look at food, it's presentation and menu's. The ensuit of our room needs a deep clean throughout the bathroom and floor tiles replacing as there are more broken than are not, and lack grouting or it's loose. Bed linen needs improvement as blood stains and sweat stains on pillows are unacceptable as is lack of pillow protectors and decent pillows. I have never made a review as lengthy as this but I feel very strongly about the hotel problems that I encountered and I know I'm not alone. My review has been honest. I have travelled extensively but can honestly say that this is the worst hotel I've had the misfortune to have stayed in. It isn't that we paid a cheap price.

Hotel Prince Regent, it seems that the staff are doing their best, but very short of staff. Sometimes waiting long times for your food but sometimes you aren't. And it's hit or miss if you get a nice meal. The room service very poor not changing the towels every day & not hoovered our room from the start of our stay. The staff are mostly extremely helpful. But limited to what they can do. Our main light in our room didn't work they fixed that the next day. Also the TV hasn't worked the last two days The maintenance guy tried but couldn't fix it. The positives, large sea view room, lovely. Beds comfortable and entertainment good. Car parking is a big issue, not enough parking for guests who self drive.
