Went in for a quiet drink around 17:50pm on 24/01/24, before attending the theatre nearby. I was informed that the kitchen wasn't open until 6pm. Around 6.05pm I ordered a baked potato with cheese and beans for my partner who was very hungry. When no baked potato had arrived at 6.40pm, I enquired how long it would be. I was told a further 10-15 minutes. My partner asked why a baked potato should take so long and was told that the food needed to be prepped. We cancelled the order and got a refund. However my partner was furious having ordered food which didn't arrive in a timely way. Nearly an hour wait for a baked spud!?
Went here for a drink and Sunday lunch, it's a very cosy old style pub. The staff were great, the atmosphere was really nice and the Sunday lunch was brilliant. I'm usually a stern critic when it comes to pub Sunday lunches but this was fab. The only minus was that we had a table for two at the bar so sometimes people were stood over us ordering, but staff were good at moving them to the ordering spot and it wasn't a big issue. Highly recommend. There are seats outside by a charming green square which I imagine would be lovely in the sunshine
Really great pub. Good beer selection, and food is top notch. Got English brewed IPA and pale ale with a delicious steak dish. And steak pie the second night!
Hidden, literally tucked away, in this lovely residential square of Kennington, this super, friendly pub is a proper English hideaway. Great beers and a reasonable choice of wines match a simple but excellent menu. Proper "English pub" food that's executed perfectly. Prices are fair and what you should expect. The service is welcoming and friendly too. The atmosphere is wonderful. Why not 5 stars? Simply because the food, while excellent, is limited (safe). It should be 5, but I'm being tough. Superb pub, definitely worth a visit.
Wow! Definitely a great pub! Very cozy, with a nice outdoor area and a square where you can grab your drink and enjoy the fresh air. Food is phenomenal! We definitely enjoyed everything, from drinking to eating. The staff? SUPER! Super friendly, super professional! So...what are you waiting for?
