It re-opened as a pub on 9th June 2016. Its new name is an oblique reference to Michael Arthur Bass, the first Lord Burton and great grandson of William Bass, founder of the Bass Brewery.
This former pub, and subsequently a struggling night club for many years, has recently been acquired and radically refurbished by Amber Taverns.
Internally, the well-furnished long, narrow single room stretches back from the entrance, with access to the beer garden at the far end. Much use is made of wood and wood panelling, including the bar counters down one side. In addition to standard tables and chairs, there are a number of 4-seater 'booths' and a few high tables and chairs. An unusual feature is a large old map of central Burton, with transport pictures, on a wall near the entrance. Some drink-related aphorisms can also be seen, together with Bass Brewery memorabilia.
TV sport is a speciality: there are no fewer than 11 wall-mounted TVs (plus another 2 in the beer garden!).
No pub car park, but there are public car parks nearby.

Walked into this pub as an outsider, brilliant and friendly atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Had a chance to chat with Ian the landlord and couldn't fault him. A good pint, a welcoming atmosphere and a decent karaoke DJ on a Saturday night. Looking forward to many a night in here and I wish the place all the look in the future
Was a five star service until you changed staff waited five min at the bar ordered my drink then she walked past gave them there drink shocking service I don’t care if she’s a boxer just do your job
Hi everyone I went down to the prince of brewers with a very good friend off mine Phil we went to see Ian the new landlord who had only been there about 4 weeks we new him from Ian being at the horse shoes in Ripley and all ways been very good friends when we went inside it felt lovely and warm clean and welcoming the locals are very friendly I don't think they do food as there's a weather spoons next door it's got a great function room up stairs that can be hired out I think 🤔 we a r planning too pay a norther visit soon the only slight issue is the toilets are up stairs but there is a disabled toilet downstairs 😀 cheers everyone Brian 😀
Nice pub. Clean and friendly for away fans (playing Burton, not sure about matches vs Derby). Accepted our 2-4-1 vouchers for inches cider
Went to watch a game of rugby on sky sports. It was like pulling teeth. No sound on the TV when we did find the right channel sky sports active. Most of the TV are linked to sound system on extra loud giving football commentary. Game went off 5 times and staff to busy to sort it. Beer is cheap and nondescript. Won't bother again.
