At The Plough Inn, situated in Ellington, a village on the coast of Northumberland, you can relax, be yourself and do exactly as you please. So if you fancy a bite to eat, a drop to drink or a place to rest, you'll find a welcoming atmosphere complemented by contemporary service. The food also puts most country pubs in the shade, featuring reworked classic English dishes with creative and tasty touches. Friendly staff, dog friendly in the bar area. Sunday lunch was quite nice but could have been a little bit warmer .
No unfortunate compromises in this budget friendly hotel. Booked a single room for an overnight stay. Room was clean and nicely decorated, small ensuite was very nice. Ate dinner in the restaurant, good pub menu and a tasty burger. Full English breakfast was also very good. Definitely recommended.
Booked for 7pm on a Thursday for seven adults. Main meals were fair to good.( after an hour wait!). We asked for desserts. It was 8.20pm by this time and was informed that they had now closed the kitchen and desserts were no longer being served!! I got the impression they wanted us out, as they apparently have a quiz night on Thursday, and I got the impression we were holding that up. Poor form. We would of put another £50-70 on our bill, but clearly, the local event comes first! My advice... Don't book on a Thursday!
Up north on holiday visiting family. Recommended for birthday meal. Table booked for 7:00pm. Meals arrived at 7:50pm. After meals, was told you can't order a dessert the kitchen is closed. Very disappointed and what a loss of revenue for the pub.
Stayed here one night before setting off on the Northumberland Coast Path the next day. Room a bit tired as was the whole place really. Needs a good refurbishment. No meals on a Sunday Night so we went elsewhere. Breakfast was pretty good tho.
