About us

Let us introduce ourselves

Situated in the picturesque hamlet of Normanton On The Wolds, South Nottingham, The Plough is a beautiful quintessentially English Gastro pub nestled in the countryside.

The Plough is part of The Secret Pub Company that own the 14 award winning Railway, Lowdham and The Radcliffe, Radcliffe On Trent (best pub in Nottingham 2021). The Plough underwent a refurbishment in 2021, retaining its beautiful character and creating a destination Gastro Pub, famous for its food, real ales, service and garden.

The Plough is first and foremost a village pub with the bar at the heart of it all. With low ceilings, wooden floors, interesting features, roaring log fires in the winter and large sun trap garden in the summer.

With 5 real ales, a unique wine list from a family owned independent supplier. All wines are available by the glass and every one of our wines is bottled at source. We offer a calendar of events with something to appeal to all.

The atmosphere will draw you in to the relaxed charm we have created for our guests. The front of house team lead by our experienced General Manager Becky, are professional, obsessive, friendly and care the upmost about your experience.

In the kitchen, Mark’s team are dedicated to creating fresh, creative dishes to a very high standard using the finest seasonal ingredients.

We look forward to seeing you at The Plough Soon.

Great British Pub Awards has awarded the The Plough, family pub of the year 2023. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere, traditional, with open fire places. The staff are very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Enjoyed the food and did not feel rushed. The pub has expansive gardens, with a play area for the kids. Could not take advantage of this as autumn and dark. Still, this did not stop my some and friends playing rugby in the floodlights.

Hubby and I so enjoyed the tasty food, the cool breeze through the sliding doors onto the lovely garden and the cosy atmosphere. He had roast cod and I loved the roast salmon, served with posh mash wrapped in a short tube of ?seaweed (edible and so tasty) crowned with tender green beans. To top off this gastronomic delight there was a very tasty sauce. If I could have licked the plate I would have :) With a sumptuous sweet each, a half a lager shandy and a delicious iced latte the bill was a very fair £60. The total experience of Sunday lunch for 4 adults and 2 kiddies at a run of the mill Greene King the day before (no desserts) at £80 was incomparable! Thoroughly recommend and will be going again!

What a little gem of a pub in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside. First time here as it’s been on my radar for a while. We were just going to pop in for a pint but the menu was just what we were after - steak night on a Thursday ! Amazing service and great food and beer. Love it!

Top class lunch! Just returned from one of the best lunches I’ve ever had. Great venue and fantastic value for money, food was well presented and tasted amazing. What we had .. Starters ⭐ Roast Parsnip Soup ⭐ Roast Scallops ⭐ Pressed Terrine of Roast Chicken & Black Pudding Remoulade Main ⭐ Braised Beef ⭐ Chargrilled Sirloin Steak with Truffle & Parmesan Fries ⭐ Chargrilled Bavette Steak Clean plates all round 😀 This is the sort of environment everyone should try to create in terms of what fabulous service and experience should be. I can’t wait to return again. FINAL WORD. Part of the Secret Pub Company who also own The Radcliffe and The Railway - both excellent and worth a visit.
