About us

Set at the foot of the Quantock Hills, The Plough Inn offers a warm and friendly welcome with the charm you would expect from a 16th century country village pub.

Mickey, Donna and the Plough Crew have worked hard since taking over the establishment in February 2021, since then the reputation of the Plough Inn has gone from strength to strength, offering honest and hearty country fair with a nod to the modern day. The home cooked menu is well supported with local west country ales and ciders, as well as the usual array of larger, beers and wines for all tastes.

Popped in for lunch and a pint after a nice walk on the Quantocks. There was a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. The staff even brought over a bowl of water & a treat for the dog. I had Belly Pork, potatoes and red cabbage. My partner had Sea Bass, potatoes and green beans. Both meals were absolutely delicious. I will definitely be visiting the Plough Inn again on our next walk.

We were staying in a local Shepherds Hut and found this place. The food wasn't amazing but was perfectly OK so I'd always give a 4. Very friendly staff and a nice location. The locals are always so lovely even to visitors which is why I love Somerset so much.

Very poor experience today. Temperature too low in the conservatory to remove coats. Food was slow to arrive and very disorganized service, I finished a pint in the time I was waiting. Finally our meal arrived, but only half of it and then we sat waiting for the rest of it to come, soggy overheated veg in a bowl. Small portions of food, 2 dry cold roast potatoes. Beef was fatty and chewy, the entire meal was tasteless including the gravy of which we were offered more of after we informed our waitress on the cold food when she check backed 'we can give you more hot gravy to warm it up'! Very poor response.Yorkshires had an oily, burnt oven after taste to them. No mention of how the meal was when I paid at the bar from other staff. Upon returning home I'm having to order a takeaway pizza

Lovely food served by lovely people. Extra care and attention paid to our furry friend - including a doggy menu, doggy towels and blankets and free treats too! Traditional British homemade food in a pleasant, clean environment. Extremely reasonably priced too!

Visited on a Sunday evening for dinner and very surprised at how extremely busy it was (glad we booked, the staff were turning away walk ins for food). Having said that we could not fault the attentive staff and quality of food. The four stars for service is only because the food delivery seemed delayed a while due to volume of customers, otherwise cannot fault the pub. Will visit again when in the area and can recommend a visit.
