The Plough Inn has a traditional, welcoming frontage, but what hides behind is a contemporary meets cosy interior, with a restaurant that boasts an impressive menu of fresh meat and fish, all sourced from local suppliers.
On arrival we were greeted warmly at the bar, which was laden with an impressive array of ales, lagers and wine, from which we chose a fruity Tempranillo. We were immediately made to feel right home and were seated by the window with a lovely view out into the beer garden. Looking through the menu, from the halloumi cheese kebabs for the vegetarians to succulent scallops or the rack of lamb, it was hard not to try everything!
Everything was delicious, and certainly filling which left very little room for dessert, but a quick look through the delectable pudding selection meant they were too hard to resist! After lots of deliberation we plumped for the classic, sticky toffee pudding, and we certainly werenโt disappointed; it was gooey deliciousness topped off perfectly with a blob of vanilla ice cream, and we polished off the lot!.
Since taking over at The Plough Rob and Will have restored a proper village pub to Appleton. Their welcome is always warm, the pub is fresh, clean. Doug's food is delicious and his pies are outstanding. There are a number of events that appeal to a wide range of people. Long may it continue
It's just reopened for the first time since we've lived in the neighbourhood with new ownership. Lovely couple of chaps running it, very friendly and welcoming even with our handful of mucky children. Still refurbishing the kitchen so the menu was limited but nonetheless the homemade burger and pie were both absolutely delicious. Nice, if small, beer selection, and a rareity for round here they had some craft beers (beavertown, brewdog, and brixton breweries) on tap as well as a selection of real ales including darkstar. Place is all newly done inside, clean and nice atmosphere, real open fire. Highly recommend stopping in.
Lovely building and nicely renovated. Chairs at the fireplace could do with being wingback or high-backed....sort of feel you are plonked on dining type chairs in the middle of the walkway to the bar. Wine was good. Selection of low alcohol beer/ ciders is very limited. Decent music playing though
Beautifully redecorated country pub, the new landlord's have done an amazing job reopening it. We had a wonderful warm welcome from both Rob and Will as always, the drinks tasted spot on too. Food is on very soon, but I have been to their previous pub, where they had the same chef and it was delicous. So I know that it will be just as great here! They are dog friendly too!
Super nice pub off the beaten track, worth stopping in for a drink and a bite. I had a tasty sirloin and my friends had burgers and fillet steak. Really satisfying meals with well priced wines and beers. Recommend this place though was a very quiet night when we visited. ๐๐
