A traditional Menu with something for everyone including smaller portions of some dishes for the smaller appetite and a Piglets Menu for children under 12 years. Good home cooked dishes with some vegetarian options, using the best local produce from land to sea. Dartmouth Fresh Fish; Totnes Butcher; Local Vegetables; Exmouth Mussels; Brixham Crab & Berry Pomeroy Game from the local shoot - all available seasonally. If you have dietry requirements such as gluten free, we are happy to help as best we can - if its complicated it helps to let us know in advance and we will do what we can.
Local Real Ales (Dartmoor's Jail Ale & Teignworthy Brewery are on the bar with some poured from the Barrel on back bar. Worthington Cream Flow (by popular demand). Luscombes & Sunnyhays Soft Drinks with a great range of New & Old World Wines by the glass or the bottle.
Live Entertainment - approximately once a month. We have solo artistes mainly so you can still enjoy your meal. These are popular evenings.
Outside seating for the summer months to eat & drink. A warm welcome awaits you with great home-cooked food and relaxed surroundings.

Absolutely love this pub, such a friendly land lord, the staff are also great. Food superb. Very dog friendly, treats on the table for them. Would highly recommend 😊
Met for a large family gathering for which the parking is good. The food was ok (Sunday lunch) but not the best I've had and there weren't very many vegetables. I think more imaginative vegetable accompaniments than cabbage and carrots would be nice. The service was ok considering it was a bit squashed.
Went for a Christmas lunch with friends. Excellent service, delicious food. The Pig & Whistle is a lovely old pub with plenty of parking. We have eaten there many times and the staff are always super helpful and friendly. Definitely a great place to eat.
Excellent experience from booking to eating, ended up being 30 mins late for our booking due to a cow herd on the moove, they were super accommodating, friendly and a good laugh! Hard to find theses days! Food was fab, well worth the 2 hour journey we will be back. Many thanks. Pic for evidence.
Went at lunchtime and only had a sandwich each. Was met warmly and offered a seat straight away. Went to the bar for drinks and was politely told to take a seat and our drinks order would be taken there. This was done promptly by the waitress. Our food order was taken after this and arrived in an appropriate time. Waitress was excellent, polite and friendly. Beef sandwich was very tasty, and a good portion. Enjoyed every minute of our visit and will definitely be going back for a meal next time. Pleasure to visit a pub/ restaurant like this with this quality of food and service. Well done to all the staff.

Made in our own kitchens by our Team of Chef's using the best locally sourced ingredients. We aim to create a Menu with something for everyone and have an ever changing Specials Board. You will find things from Steak & Kidney Pudding, Beer Battered Cod, Home Cooked Ham Egg & Gourmet Chips as well as fresh Exmouth Mussels, Brixham Crab, Day Boat Fish and all our meats are from our Totnes Butcher.
Our Sunday Lunch is second to none and people travel from absolutely miles to taste our great food and the keep coming back.
