If you want some really lovely food in a traditional public house then you will love The Pig and Abbot. The welcome is very warm and the service is excellent but the food is incredible. You do need to book but I cannot tell you how good the food really is. My wife said that the salmon that she had was probably the best salmon she has ever had and we eat out a fair amount. Personally, I love their pies, oh my god, there pies yum, yum!!! I love it when you have a selection of home made pies that are full of meat or chicken etc but are very filling, awesome.
We had our Christmas lunch with a dear old friend. The pub is settled in a beautiful rural hamlet. It's a cosy atmosphere and fire places, which were lightened, give real old pub vibes. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and we were very well looked after. We had exceptional beef and stilton pies with red cabbage, french beans, carrots and home made chips. Apple and blackberry tartlets with custard were full of Christmas flavour. We will be back very soon.
What a find, food was lovely and reasonably priced with generous servings. Felt like à family run pub with a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return here again! Looking forward to trying Sunday lunch. A big thank you to our waitress too.
Very nice pub with great traditional food and excellent service. Sundays are clearly busy for the staff but they’re always friendly. Pat was very nice to the kids and we discovered that dogs are also welcome.
We have visited the Pig & Abbot a couple of times and each visit has been amazing. The food is the highest quality and you definitely get your money's worth with the portions! I would recommend the ribs and the cheesecake. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Parking is a little tricky but that is expected from pub this old and in this sort of location.
