About us

Welcome to The Phoenix Inn Twyford

The Phoenix Inn has been run as a family pub from when The Mundy Family took over in 1981. Reg and Anne as landlord and landlady and their son Paul as Chef.

In 1984 Reg retired and Paul took the reins as landlord and carried on from where his dad left off.

I started working here at the age of 14, working my way through the ranks from pot washer to chef to landlady, after Paul and I became partners in life and in business.

We've had a lot of happy years working here together but sadly on November 24th 2019 Paul died suddenly.

Paul was a proper landlord and will never be forgotten.

So looking forward to the future I want to carry on running this amazing pub as a family run pub in Paul's honour, starting in January 2020 myself and my youngest son Tom started working together and we will work hard to keep The Phoenix Inn the warm welcoming pub it has been for the last 39 years

Emma - Landlady.

What an amazing find,we have passed by so many times , saying we must try that. So pleaded today was the day. We had the best lamb shank roast dinner. Lovely log fire burning in the corner, friendly staff with a great atmosphere. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. We actually live in Twickenham but are often down in Southampton, this could very easily become a local when In the area .

Up until tonight and halfway through this service, we've always encountered a lovely service. However, on this occasion, the bar lady (long blonde hair) was giving us a bad look as if we shouldn't be there because of our 2 year old daughter. The lady with the long blonde hair definitely had her favourite customers and couldn't help them anymore. As for anybody else words cannot describe. Our daughter was having a good time talking to everyone and looking at the Xmas tree. But she got told not to go near the Xmas tree and basically to sit still. Very much debating on whether to go again. On the plus side, the lady with short blonde hair and was wearing a black sparkling top redeemed our experience. She was a lovely lady and found paper and pens for our daughter to use.

We visited on the weekend in October 2022 for a Sunday roast. The lamb shank was really well cooked and the meat was falling off the bones and the potatoes were crispy and soft. The veg however could have used a lot more love. Over cooked carrots and cauliflower in water is not what I want to be served in a pub.
