Family and dog-friendly pub
The Peacock Inn welcomes all family members including dogs. We are open for hot and cold drinks every day, and the restaurant is open Tuesday - Sunday. Booking is advisable.
We walked here from sissinghurst took 2+hrs lovely walk we turned up and they were friendly. Dog friendly and gluten free friendly I had gluten free larger with gluten free BBQ ribs. Amazing
Absolutely vile, overpriced food. VEGANS DO NOT EAT HERE! The only vegan main is a jacket potato with 'vegan balls in tomato sauce' which was so sour and so disgusting. It's probably out of a tin, the cheapest vegan item they can get from their wholesalers. I doubt the chef has even tried it, probably thinks vegans are irritating nightmares and can shove off. That's the level of discontent this chefs menu speaks of. Even the meat and veggie options are rubbish. £10 for battered prawns with a sweet chili dip? Your think it would come out in a beautiful homemade batter, all panko crumb and succulent. Instead, my friend got 5 piddly prawns that I would bet were from frozen, again wholesalers. My husbands halloumi fries were also a joke. Smaller than a babies toe, these too were clearly store bought and they charged way too much for them. This chef needs to do some research and hone their skills. Their food is embarrassing the customers and breaking their wallets. It's not that hard to do good food for a low price. Holy hell, just improve your side salad skills and you'll be doing better. And learn how to cook something decent for vegans. Trust me, we will promote your business on all sorts of platforms when you offer something decent. A pub like yours? People would travel for the location, the interior, the playground for their kids. But right now you're the worst food I've ever eaten out as a vegan, and I'm feeling my civic duty to warn everyone away.
We booked a table for10 for Sunday lunch of us to celebrate 3 family birthdays today ... None of us had ever been to The Peacock before despite driving past it for 20 years... What a lovely place with a great atmosphere, all the staff made us feel so welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. The food menu has a great selection but we all plummeted for Sunday Roasts, which were great quality, piping hot and just the correct portion size. A good choice of desserts, coffees and drinks all at a very reasonable price and continual service from a plesent smiling team. Thank you all at The Peacock you made our birthday lunch great and we will be back.
What a hidden gem of a pub, mid week and it was packed full of nice people, kids were all happy and the beer was good. Food was being served that is all good traditional english. Cant fault it really. Even the car park is a descent size which is often an issue for many pubs. Overall a really nice place, ideally though you need a designated driver as its a little out of the way.
I visited for lunch today.. I had the chicken strips to start, which were a little on the dry side, but tasty.. then I had The Peacock burger for my main.. and I can honestly say, that was the best burger I've had in a long time.. so juicy and tasty and the chips were lovely too!! Highly recommend you order a burger if visiting! Lovely traditional pub. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy.
