Dirty smelly place full of misogynistic men women rarely welcomed toilets are shared by men an women stains all over the seats best avoided
Super friendly people, great value. Everything about it was comforting and very welcoming. My top recommendation to anyone in the area!
🚇 Royal Oak 🍺 £3.80 Coors ❤️ A superb no-frills working men's club. . Tucked away between a glass shop and a £3m Victorian terraced house is The Paddington Railway Club. Royal Oak is the nearest tube, which is an eight-minute walk away. . The Paddington Railway Club opened its doors in 1938. The club was formed in the late 1800s to enable local working men to socialize and have a meeting place. . This is a compact, cozy little place, which has a relaxed vibe. The decor here is old school, simple, and a little frayed around the edges. On the right-hand side is the servery, which has model trains on a shelf at the back. On the left is a seating area with comfy chairs and a banquette sofa with matching red velour. This pub gets the LPM oldschool seal of approval for having a slightly worn red carpet. There is also a function room and a colorful courtyard beer garden at the rear. . The beer selection was limited with a straightforward choice of keg beers. I decided on a pint of Coors, not a usual choice of mine, but my pint was well kept and cost less than four quid. . I arrived around 3 pm, and the club was busy with a predominantly older crowd. I double-checked that I was okay to have a pint here as I'm not a CIU member, which was no problem at all. The atmosphere here was great, lots of banter and cackles of laughter, plus a keen eye was on the horse racing as a few punters were invested. I got talking to a regular who was telling me about the club and the fact he has drunk here for years. The service was great and personable; the lady behind the bar had everything under control. I absolutely loved visiting this club, and I left this place with mixed emotions. Like a lot of traditional old school wet-led pubs I visit, there always tends to be an older crowd in attendance with little to no sign of the next generation coming through. The camaraderie and community spirit here were a joy to behold. As an outsider, I was immediately welcomed and felt at ease in no time at all. I really hope that this place endures and keeps the traditions and values alive. . ℹ️ Info correct as of visiting 13.05.23.
Old school club. Very cheap drinks. They have an amazing secret beer garden behind the premises. Lovely staff. Juke box is amazing . A rare find these days. You need to become a member after multiple visits. They aren’t inclusive. It’s nice to be part of a community.
Great club. Friendly, lovely beer garden, darts room downstairs and unbelievable value at £3.50 a pint. Well worth popping in.
