We look forward to you joining us at The Chequers where we serve quality home cooked bar meals and puddings seven lunchtimes a week and in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday.
The Chequers is a beautiful 16th century Oxfordshire pub close to the heart of the village of Watlington in Oxfordshire. The Chequers has a traditional bar in two sections, a conservatory and large garden.
The Chequers in Watlington is situated close to the central High Street. Where there are a number of individual specialist shops that are worth a visit. The village is a short drive away from junction 6 on the M40 Motorway and within easy reach of Henley, Wallingford and Stokenchurch. The ancient Icknield way that forms a part of the Ridgeway National Trail passes through the south east of Watlington.
Enjoy the last of the summer in our large garden and the warmest welcome in our bar/restaurant and conservatory.

The food was amazing. We decided to have the set starters and mains and were not disappointed. The food looked and tasted amazing. It was although we were back in Thailand. We had not booked in advance, and although they were obviously busy, they found us a table. Although The Chequers is also a pub, the restaurant is separate from the main bar area, although you are able to eat in there if you wish.
Perfect for nice dinner with friends! Love their starters especially the salt and pepper squid
Visited this lunchtime to see what this old favourite was doing these days. I dropped in for a quick drink and stopped for what I can only describe as the best treat that my taste buds have had in a long time. Exquisite Thai food, beautiful presentation served by people who truly care about what they do. I would eat here every day if I could and can't wait to bring my family and friends to eat here. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. So glad that I took a little detour on the way home. My sincere thanks to you for fantastic service and the best lunch that I have had in a long time and at a very reasonable price!.🙏 Been back here and it just gets better. Everyone here really cares about what they do.
Great find a few village's away from us. Authentic Thai food done really really well. Flavour profiles great, nice level of heat in the appropriate dishes. Service was fantastic too, he had us eating out the palm of his hand. Only slight let down is the dessert menu - no Thai desserts. Would like to see some Asian options. Still 5 star overall Can't wait to return :)
