This recently refurbished pub, tucked away in the back streets of Headington, is one of Oxfordshire's hidden gems. Boasting some great food and a fine range of real ales, The Butcher's Arms guarantees a warm and friendly welcome for all.
My first visit to this little hidden gem of a pub! They had a Jazz night which proved to be very popular for a Monday night. Unfortunately they don't serve food but uniquely you are more than welcome to bring your own or order in and have food delivered! Plates and cutlery will be provided on request. Offering a good choice of real Ales I was served by Emma who was so friendly and welcoming. I'm really looking forward to my next visit. Cheers 🍻
Great local. Not noisy just the sound of friendly neighbours and other customers having a relaxed time out. Hopefully will stay that way but with simple good food please! Edit! Ahem! It was incredibly noisy with live music last night, 16th September, I don't know if this is going to be regular but thank heavens I don't live near it.
We've not visited for years as the previous owners had cats in the pub and I'm highly allergic to cats plus we like 'dogs welcome ' pubs. It was an early Sunday evening visit with quite a few people drinking with dogs so a good sign as far as we're concerned. Guinness was very good and service was excellent. Usual Oxford price but higher than pubs directly in Headington. Nice private garden. We didn't eat as there was no service. There's live music planned for next Saturday so we'll probably try them again. All in all, it's nice to have another choice of pub in Headington in walking distance.
My favorite pub in all of Headington and Oxford! The owners and staff are so friendly, the food is amazing, pub quiz is lots of fun, and Geri the Pub Cat is outstanding. I was part of a group of students from America, living in Headington for a few months, and Paul and his crew were so welcoming of us. The environment is fantastic here with a good selection of drinks. Go on a Sunday night, order halloumi fries or fish and chips or sticky toffee pudding, and enjoy your evening.
