Antony & Jay Worrall Thompson describe The Greyhound, their restaurant and freehouse in Rotherfield Peppard near Henley on Thames, as their ‘perfect local’. Seasonal food is key and Antony goes out of his way to support local producers. Described as AWTs ‘playground’, The Greyhound is not only known for its succulent Steaks and Burgers but also home to a vast amount of other dishes inspired by countries from all around the world. Take a step inside and be greeted with a warm welcome from Jay’s attentive front of house team and the quirky interior of the Barn and Parlour.
I had high expectations visiting AWT's pub. I was not let down. The roast was top quality. We couldn't have asked for better service as they rearranged the tables for us to fit in two prams at the last minute with perfectly timed service throughout the meal. The pub itself is also beautiful and had been nicely decorated for Christmas.
We booked a table for two during lunch as we wanted to try this famous local restaurant. While located outside of Reading it's easily accessible by the local bus which is ideal if you fancy having a drink with your dinner. The service was great with friendly staff and prompt (but not rushing you) service between courses. The food itself was quite interesting, we had the Crab 3 Way for the starters and to be honest I was not sure what to expect, I'm now a fan of Crab Brulee 🤣. For Mains we went with the Venison which was delicious with it tasty sauce and crisp sweet vegetables. The Brill was a little bit of a let down, the portion seemed a little small and neither of us really thought it was superb, it was not bad, but equally not outstanding. For dessert we went with the 4 Selection Cheese board, this gave nice sized lumps of cheese, a tangy chutney and a variety of Bread/Biscuits/Crackers on the side. Would likely visit again when we next have a special occasion to celebrate.
Absolutely stunning place for food and great time with friends to catch up. Amazing food especially steak! Definitely place to come back to! Great atmosphere without loud noise on the background so there is a chance to talk to your friends and family - whoever you invited for the dinner. Lovely interior and staff ! Thank you we will be back !
Quaint nice place w good food very well known to the locals as it was full on a weekday dinner.
Had a wonderful meal here this week. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was top notch. Set menu of £20-26 for 2-3 courses also looked very reasonable. I had the Trio of crab and then surf and turf then sticky toffee and all were fabulous. Service was so accomodating too. Highly recommend!

Cracking local with friendly, fun atmosphere & great any time of the year. Excellent food every day & simply delicious specials board. This is the kind of pub that will raise the asking price of your house!
