Underwhelmed a bit. Traditional old pub with uneven floors etc. But some modernisation done not so well. “Large” room smaller than expected. Bedrooms clean but not fully prepared. Staff ok.
Great country pub . Fantastic quality food . Good for Coeliacs - the chef spoke to my partner and basically offered to tailor make her choice from the menu minus the Gluten .
Lovely experience, great pub with very friendly staff. Rooms to the side of the pub were excellent, just the right size and very clean. Well worth a visit
Not quite as expected. The rooms had minor issues......one bedside light flickering, bathroom light bare bulb and shade absent and the bathroom had a stale odour of drains. Rather disappointed as for a remote location it wasn't cheap. Had a beer before retiring and seemed rather pricey? Probably 85% of the patrons appeared to be privileged students. Not in my humble opinion a welcoming environment unless as mentioned in other reviews....you're one of its locals. Also no reservation for guest parking?? As we were from overseas and had 2 cases I did not appreciate walking quite some distance back to my car parked on the street to carry suitcases.
Six of us had lunch here including my 2 year old daughter. A wonderfully traditional pub with an open fire, friendly dogs and a kind and chatty manager. Delicious food freshly prepared. There is also a wonderful playground 1-2 minutes from the pub. Next time we're in the area we'll try the accommodation. Thank you for having us!
