Awful experience. It took ages for them to answer the phone when trying to book ( called because online booking not working.) Eventually got through. The person on the phone was doing everything to put me off going. "We are busy" Theres only one of me" booked anyway I needed a meeting point. Day of booking Walked into the pub. Totally empty! Staff just lolling around. The chef just sitting behind the bar. Asked if I would like a drink " I,d love a coffee ") Sorry the machines broken.. The place was unclean and in need of TLC. What a contrast to my last very pleasant visit in 2022. Very sad.
Very poor communication. Couldn’t get to check into my room. I was travelling from Scotland and booked this room to stay they didn’t contact me to tell me that check in was closing 20 minutes after I booked the room. No where stated this as I was booking it either. Had to sleep in my car terrible service! Will not refund me either.
Lovely pub with incredibly friendly and helpful staff, from the ladies at the bar to the chef! We acknowledge that we can be difficult customers because of various food allergies but these guys were just brilliant and seemed happy to help too. Great food and drinks, comfy room and perfect location near Bicester centre and shopping village.
The Sunday Carvery is absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was great. It is really nice to see a carvery back in Bicester. There was a good choice of vegetables, meat and sauces. The yorkies were huge, the potatoes crispy and vegetables were not over cooked. Well done to all the staff . 🥰😍
Booked 3 rooms for my bridal party in July. The rooms were unique and quite quirky which we loved but could do with a bit of TLC. The wooden door in the downstairs room had warped so jammed close and took a long while to open to get our stuff out. The handle on the shower door was also hanging off. The upstairs rooms were very hot and only one had a plug in fan that was very small. When asking a member of staff if there were any fans, my friend was told ‘I start at 6 I’ll look then’. We never got the fan. The staff were generally friendly and attentive apart from that and let us use some champagne flutes from the bar in the room while getting ready. They said these would be cleared away during the day and the room freshened but unfortunately they were still there when we returned after the wedding. This was a bit disappointing as it was our wedding night. The chef was playing loud music from 7am and as our room was ground floor, this woke us up. The rooms could be really nice with just a bit of a freshen up and addition of fans on the summer months. Would probably recommend for a one night stay but not for a special occasion like a wedding or party.
