About us

Opened by Alison & Phil in February 2013 alongside Thomas, Ria & Ella, The Oxford is a family pub set at the foot of the Pennines serving fantastic food, fine wines & real ales in a beautiful building promising welcomes as warm as our log fires. Over 150 years old, the former Oxford Turning circle has historically been a thriving public house. In it’s earlier years The Oxford was the place to be, a beautiful cocktail bar & snug frequented by the movers & shakers of Rochdale serving oysters alongside it’s famous seven spirit rainbow cocktails. Nowadays Alison & her team have transformed the pub into a family friendly pub for all seasons, with a huge beer garden & super chilled lagers served in glasses fresh from the freezer for the summer along with cosy fire places, a proper sunday lunch & beautiful red wines to see you through the winter months. Straight from work or as somewhere special for the weekend The Oxford is a welcome break that always offers something different for those who seek it or a bit of tradition for those who don’t.

The Oxford is a lovely, cosy pub restaurant with loads of atmosphere. I had the cheese and onion pie meal from the small plates menu which is a great idea for people who are not big eaters or want to make room to have a dessert afterwards. There is a separate vegan menu so they are well catered for. The staff were friendly and looked after us very well. I certainly would come back again

Popped in on the way home after trying to fish for roach on our frozen Healey Dell water. Very festive and welcoming, packed pub especially for an end of November freezing Wednesday and buzzing with atmosphere where happy people are enjoying a good lunch Didn't eat here myself but passing food looked good Ab Fab 😎

Large menu & specials. Innovative choices & old favourites. Small plates & vegetarian. Pulled beef doughnuts to start. A small & standard fish & chips. Crispy batter. Curry sauce extra. Loved lime green menus & serviettes. Cheery waiter, checks on our meals. Partner enjoyed small brewery ales. Large garden and car park. Busy on Friday night. Churros s'mores - toasted marshmallows in chocolate sauce/ice cream & churros. Will go back

This was a nice pub lunch. The service was good and the food was ok. I had the cheese and onion pie with chips and beans - it was a little burned on top which made it taste a little funny. All in all it was a good cheese and onion pie and the chips where lovely. My friend had the burger and chips which where really nice. The setting is lovely and comfy and cosey warm. Seemed very popular as around 1pm every table was filled. Would recommend for a quiet lunch
