Went here with my colleagues for the last lunch before Christmas. Let’s start with the positives - the atmosphere was lovely. Then again I think it would have been like that in any setting as I was surrounded by a fantastic bunch of people, so I don’t know how much I can credit to the pub itself. Drinks were mostly good. There was a little odd moment when my colleague’s mulled wine was served in a paper cup - a foreshadow to the lack of care of presentation and service. Food - fish and chips were generously spilling over the plate and tasted pretty good, though according to my colleague could have done with a bit more tartar for the size difference of the fish. That’s where the positives end for me. My ox cheeks starter were just a mush of stuff. Individual ingredients of that dish sounded great on the page, but the execution just turned it into a regurgitated mess. Chicken and leak pie was dry as a bone. Chips were definitely not freshly cut. Gravy lacked any flavour. Mac and cheese was just creamy walnut pasta, and though it promised to come with broccoli and spinach, you had to really dig to find them. Garlic bread was nice, but then again it was just a piece of toasted bread with garlic smeared on it. Out of typical British politeness we ended our lunch by telling our server that everything was lovely, when prompted. 🤷‍♂️

We've been before and food is always excellent. The service was excellent and very attentive. Our starters were delayed only for a short while but the staff were very forthcoming with the issue and offered us free drinks immediately. Food quality was excellent! The pork cracking is delicious and super crunchy. Perfect for a family get together of different food preferences.

Lovely old pub, with nice friendly staff. Downstairs looks like its always busy but we reserved a table in their upstairs room, which has its own bar and toilets. The food we had was very tasty.

Really gave me the pub vibes. We had a lot of starters which were very tasty. We also ordered the classic roast, the beef was not that great. Loved it though. Also, very good beer. Must try the pork cracklings 👍🏽❤️
