Erm....don't know what to say...seen it on the Internet. It looked quite good . Not so much in real, though . Very bland atmosphere. Not even crisps, let alone food. A local pub. And it's not a great one .
Classic old-school pub, excellent place to sit and enjoy the weekend!
Been going to this pub since I was younger along with my family. Recently been taken over by new management and have seen how empty and lacking atmosphere it has been over the last few months. On one occasion we went into the orchard after attending the local church as we have done for years. There were certain drinks that weren’t available and when we asked we were pretty much told that they are trying to change the clientele and vibe. In other words we weren’t welcome. About 2 weeks ago on 29th June me and my family had just left church for my nans 2nd anniversary mass, I was desperate for the toilet and by this point the church was now shut. I quickly ran up to the orchard and asked to use the toilet there were about 3/4 customers in the whole of the pub (now I know why) and when I asked the lady behind the bar bluntly asked “are you going to buy anything” I said no and was about to explain I was desperate and that we had to be at the cemetery before it shut. The lady was so rude and said NO whilst starring at me blankly. I couldn’t believe this once lovely, family orientated pub has now become somewhere I wouldn’t dream of going in again. Such a shame!
I popped into The Orchard at Askew Rd this afternoon after hearing great reviews of the food, new kitchen. It’s been years since I’ve been in there but I’m glad I gave it another try. Had 2 pizzas which were absolutely amazing- only £8. Side of Mac’n’cheese too for £4. 2 happy people fed for £20. Will definitely be back again to try the jerk and Sunday roasts. Pub is very tastefully decorated too and has a relaxed local vibe.
New to this place. Lovely bar, however it appears that the staff member has serious OCD because he keeps rearrangeing the chairs while also repeatedly using chemicals to mop the same area, making us sick with the chemical smell. Also, the pub welcomes dogs However, it was revolting when the dog peed on the carpet where we were sitting. I was curious about why he only mopped where we sat? Does he have an issue with people of colour? I will not come to this place again.
