A large, stylish pub located next to London Road station, The Open House features three separate inside areas, plus an upstairs function room – not to mention one of the largest and most attractive beer gardens in Brighton.
The food, served every day, is a particular highlight and while the pub is child-friendly during the day, they have occasional DJs, live music and improvisational comedy. Locally produced artwork from the likes of the Fiveways Artists group adorns the downstairs walls, while the function area, known as the Play Room, plays host to a variety of visual and performance arts and is also available for private hire.
So this is a nice vibe pub very chilled and good staff , however the food leaves alot to be desired. I had the angus burger which is the worst burger I've had , the meat was very cheap and very hard. For £15 there has to be a degree of standard and this was very very poor. Wouldn't eat again from here
Sunday lunch for family of 7. Very very good. Well prepared food with decent portions. Informal atmosphere. Great service and decent value. Thanks. Oh yeh good beer too.
We travelled over from Portsmouth for my sister-in-laws birthday, and as soon as we walked through the door I was really impressed with the atmosphere, decor and overall vibe. We went for Sunday lunch and it was spectacular!! My wife and I haven’t stopped talking about it and that was over a week ago 😅 We’d happily travel back just for the roast!!
A hidden gem! Delicious veggie roast, and love that you can get a "small" portion (which justified getting the cauliflower cheese as a side!) Definitely recommend.
I really like The Open House, it’s a very modern and youthful pub. It has an amazing big garden and a wide range of food on the menu. The portions were large and not pricey at all compared to other places. The open house is a hidden gem and wish more people knew about it! There’s also a sign that forbids kids under 18 in the pub that me and my friends found very amusing!
