I have regularly enjoyed meals at The Old Wirral Hundred but would like the thank the staff for a fantastic Christmas day meal. The whole experience was enjoyed by the whole family and we will definitely return for dinner next Christmas 2024. Many Thanks, to the Whole team. Brilliant.
Brilliant place for great meals, friendly atmosphere & super friendly helpful staff. Christmas dinner was more than expected, plenty to eat, all piping hot & thoroughly enjoyed. It's a really welcoming place to visit & Sara & all the staff give their all to make sure you enjoy being there.
Christmas and Footy on ... very very busy but festive and great atmosphere. Food was tasty too. Singer was great. All in all fab evening and even better local too ... well done team xx
Brilliant pub, best in Ellesmere Port by a long way. Bar staff are always conscientious and friendly and it has a nice atmosphere and a really good manager who is excellent with all customers. A great pub always has a top manager! Been in late and drunk on a week night when it’s quieter and never get rushed out. Can’t fault it at all really. Ten out of ten 👍🏻
I have returned to the Old Wirral Hundred about three times since my original review,, and I have updated my review score, and I am providing my reasons, as requested. Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 2/5 The food is delicious, and it has been on each visit. The atmosphere for me is not so good but then I hate football. Each time I have visited there has been a local football match playing on the TVs, which is understandable, but for someone like me wanting a quiet (ish) meal with family, it's impossible to have a conversation because the TVs are so loud. As far as service is concerned, that largely depends upon the staff member serving. On my first visit, we received the wrong order which was taken by a supervisor who reacted somewhat aggressively, and defensively, towards us when we asked about it. We backed down and accepted her error because we didn't want to cause a scene. The next three visits were better than this, but on our last visit (Wednesday, 11 October) the pub was quite busy because one section was reserved for a private event. Every empty table was full of dirty dishes and glasses, but a dark haired and plump member of staff approached a table we decided to sit at, and started clearing away the debris. She had no customer service whatsoever, she didn't smile, she didn't respond to any questions, and when asked if we would have a damp cloth to wipe the table, her face showed us that she took offence. As we wiped the table down a customer sitting nearby told us that the tables had all been like this for some time before we arrived. The slim young dark haired woman who brought our food had awesome customer service; this shows me that it's just some individuals. I understand that this venue gets busy at times, and there will also be occasions when staff call in sick leaving the pub understaffed. I feel that any frustrations, regardless of the cause, should not be taken out on customers. The food is great and very tasty, but the service by some seriously needs attention.
