We went for the roast dinner. Great efficient staff. Really professional and good safe procedures in place. (The staff carry the hit food). The food was delicious. All fresh and well presented.
We've used the restaurant over many years. We did the Valintine night with you loved it. We had lunch there recently. No cold counter meats dry large restaurant empty .it's a no no . For us .. I see why it's now empty .what a pity ðŸ˜
Staff were lovely, rooms clean, beds comfortable, walls paper thin...bring food earplugs if you don't want to listen to next door's telly. We had two twin rooms. Breakfast fine and staff were helpful. Beautiful village and lovely countryside.
Our stay at the Old Tollgate was a bit disappointing, I was so gutted when the room we had booked which boasted a 4 poster bed didn't actually hve one, it might be nice if the hotel had told us before we arrived that they didn't have 4 poster beds anymore. The picture of the room I thought we had booked, and paid an awful lot of money for was definitely not what we ended up with, though the jacuzzi bath was great, and the bed comfortable. But the furniture was very tired and needs replacing. The shower was blocked, but to be fair was fixed very promptly. Also the room was very hot, small windows, and on the hottest weekend of the year it would hve been nice to supply guests wth a fan as there is no A/C. I was dissatisfied with the standard of cleaning, my bedside cabinet was very dusty, and over the 3 nights we were there the room wasn't hoovered, bed covers thrown over and the bottom sheet just left all rumpled. On the plus side breakfast was delicious, and although very small the evening meal we had was nice, and the staff very pleasant. We did get a complimentary bottle of Prosecco by way of an apology I suppose, but on the whole I would hve preferred what I had booked and was so looking forward to....a lovely room wth a four poster bed!!!!
We went for a midday meal. The lunchtime food was satisfactory; however, it was just limited to a choice of roasts plus a vegetarian option - we were the only people dining; therefore, the atmosphere was rather flat.
