About Us

In 2014, The Old Plough Inn was re-opened under new ownership as arestaurant by chef and co-owner, John Gregory. The ‘Old Plough Inn’ is over200 years old and, until the early 1980’s, incorporated the village shop.Egmanton originally had two other inns, but by 1880 both the ‘New Plough’and the ‘Rose and Crown’ were no more. Several times each year there are pilgrimages to the famous local church nearby and the inn is blessed as the pilgrims pass by.

The Old Plough Inn is an 18 Century building which retains its old charm and character. Owners, John and Lisa Gregory have fully refurbished it in a fresh, clean and vibrant decor to compliment the open log fires, old beams and it’s quirky old features. The Restaurant can be found in the beautiful countrysidevillage of Egmanton, just 5 minutes drive from Tuxford and approximately 15minutes drive from Retford and Newark.

Head Chef and owner, John, is classically trained to rosette standard with over 30 years experience of creating his dishes with passion and flair. All food is homemade and cooked fresh to order using locally sourced produce. There is a wide menu choice, several daily specials and a good choice of dishes for vegetarians, together with a children's menu. Any dietary requirements can alsobe catered for and we recommend that you mention this when booking your table.

John and Lisa look forward to seeing you and we hope you have a fantastic experience at The Old Plough Inn.

Quite wait for food to arrive. Wine came straight away. The wait could bother some but it didn't bother us. Big portions. Food very hot when it arrived which is a must for me. Asked for extra gravy came with lunch. Staff very good. Desserts were delicious

Great place to eat, Our daughter has dietary requirements the staff were accepting and accommodating of this which allowed her to take part in a family day out without the worry of having to feed her separately. Our server is always helpful, attentive and nothing is ever to much trouble for them. Food was great, hot and fresh, delivered quickly to the table with minimum of fuss , drinks were refilled quickly on request. A great place for families with children, evening out with friends a special occasion or anything else .

What a fantastic find! We were looking for a Sunday roast on our way North. Saw this was just off our route. We were lucky and they had space. Perfect location, stunning food, plenty of it. All served with faultless charm in a bright, clean environment. Would strongly recommend to anyone. ❤️❤️❤️
