The black latticed windows, wonky ceilings and oak-beams give away the age of this converted farm worker’s cottage, but inside it’s been lovingly transformed into a true country dining pub with rooms — step inside and it feels like you’re in a remote rural area, not minutes from one of the world’s busiest airports.
Working with the freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible, we have made a name for ourselves as a true foodie destination where imaginative modern British cuisine and classic pub dishes sit side by side on the menu. Our food is perfectly complimented by the welcoming bar that serves a great selection of real ales as well as an excellent wine list. Our six elegant bedrooms overlook the large mature garden for you to enjoy a night or two in the countryside before you fly or if you’re passing through.
We are well placed to explore some of the best countryside England has to offer, including the spectacular South Downs, perfect for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. And there are numerous cultural and heritage sites, such as the world renowned Wakehurst Place, nearby, or head to Royal Tunbridge Wells for a wander around this historic spa town followed by afternoon tea.

Stayed for one night with the meal and breakfast included. We were not disappointed, the food was lovely, the staff so friendly and the room over looking the garden with a lovely view.. We are not local but will be definitely coming back to stay again in the summer to enjoy the garden that looks fab. Thank you to all the staff
We held my mum's Wake here and the staff were so helpful leading up to the event and brilliant on the day. The afternoon tea was delicious and they accommodated our request for gluten free options and extra cakes! Our thanks go to Liam and the team.
We had a meal for 14. Service was excellent! Very friendly, not to fast and not too slow, just perfect. Food was well presented and delicious. The surroundings were lovely - Christmassy, warm and welcoming.
We stayed as a family the night prior to a wedding. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we had a great time staying. The staff were excellent, really friendly and attentive and the service was great. We had dinner together in a private room and the food was absolutely top class, as was the service. We also had breakfast the following morning and again absolutely superb quality.
4 of us visited the pub to celebrate a family birthday on a Friday night. Good food and excellent service. However, when the pub was full around 8pm it was very loud and we had to move table out of the main restaurant into the snug (which was quite cold) to be able to hear each other talk. Staff were very accommodating of the move though. 4 people, a drink on arrival then 3 courses plus a bottle of wine came to £200. I would like to have had more choice of unique dishes on the main courses rather than a few interesting choices and then pub classics.
