We arrived on New Years Day at 3pm. We were not aware we had to go outside the pub/hotel to get to our rooms which were in a separate building until our arrival. We were not informed that the bar/restaurant was closing at 6pm. It was only when we went into the pub/bar at 5.30 that were informed that it was about to close. It would’ve been handy to have been told this at the check-in. We had to drive to Chippenham to get a meal! 😡 Also the steps outside can be a bit slippery and hazardous if the weather is wet which it was in our case. However the rooms in the outside building are very clean, warm and comfortable with a great shower.
This was my first visit to this this pub having driven past it many times. I clearly should have visited before. The meal was Lovely The menu had a good choice of dishes all I feel sensibly priced, plus there was a specials board. I had fish and chips which good sized portion and was very enjoyable The team at the pub were both friendly and efficient, I will definitely re visit
Stopover on the way back from Wales. Best decision! The Food and the Staff are Amazing! Had the best Full Breakfast I've had in a Long time!! Staff are so friendly and assisted us with every question or query we had. Special shout out to Kelly who is unbelievable at her job. And her lovely daughter Quba. In 24 hours we came away feeling like we'd made friends. Thank you.
Food here is incredible. Definitely save room for dessert. We had the fried pickles, 8oz burger and onion rings. Portions were larger than expected, and cooked to perfection. Batter is light and crispy. We had the chocolate orange tart and chocolate orange cheesecake for dessert, both of which were outstanding with some creative flair. Staff were very friendly, and apologetic of the slightly rowdy regulars. Would gladly visit again.
When we arrived we were made to feel very welcomed. We were given our room key which we went straight to see what the room was like. The room was lovely and what I liked the most was the tea and coffee had oat milk as well as regular milk which for me was great as I can't have milk. We book for our evening meal which I recommend you book as it was really busy . The food was lovely. Breakfast is served between 8.30am and 10.00am and this was very nice too. Would definitely recommend The Old House At Home both for staying and just popping in for food too. 😊
