We invite you to sit back and relax in the atmosphere of this Historic 17th century pub situated in the peaceful village of Shardlow.
Sample our range of frequently changing Real Ales there's usually 6 or 7 to choose from as well as Traditional Ciders plus Lagers, Stouts, and fine wines. If you are feeling peckish and fancy food, browse our new food menu for hearty and light meals as well as bar snacks, there is also a 'Daily Specials' board.
We also have a large beer garden with childrens adventure climbing frames or sit on the upper terrace for a more peaceful experience!.
Lovely warm fire and friendly atmosphere. Homemade Sunday lunch was great. Sometimes you think that the food was great but expensive and other times cheap but basic...but here you get value for money. The food matches the price. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was offered a test before buying a cider as the knowledgeable staff knew this drink was not to everyone's taste ( she was right!) . Although busy the wait for food was not too long and staff were eager to make sure we had all sauces we needed and checked that we had enjoyed our meals . We will definitely return and try other lovely meals available on the menu . Thank you x
First time eating at The Old Crown but drink there fairly regularly. Meals were small and poor quality for the price. Beef in the curry had stringy strands running through it and rice under cooked. Gave feedback but unsure it will get back to the owner!
First time here and was unplanned. From the outset the friendliness of all the staff was fantastic. Lovely home cooked food, varied menu and excellent value for money. Had cheese and onion pie, homemade chips, fresh veg and delicious gravy. Old school puddings were on offer and I chose treacle sponge and custard- absolutely fantastic! Where else can you get a home cooked 2 course meal and a pint of shandy for under £20!
Nice historic pub with a good bit of character. A few ales on, about four or five. Large outside area with a garden and decking. Swings etc to keep smaller children happy.Keeps hens and owls. Does food . Plenty on during week and weekend. Live music outside in the summer. Presumably does overnights but definitely phone ahead. Short drive off main road. Recommended. 🍻 🥚 🦉
Lovely pub, friendly staff and they always make you feel welcome! We ordered the pork pies and my god they were amazing! Amazing value and absolutely delish! The kids love it here too! Such a good outside area for kids!
