The large and modern coal mine was sunk in 1953 and finally closed in 1998. It was the last of the deep mines in the Lothians.

I had booked a table for 22 folk last night The service from Andrea was Excellent. Very pleasant lady! She made sure all our food orders were served on time . Always on hand if we needed anything else brought to our tables . . Food was Good & the kids loved the pizzas . Bar staff were very pleasant We all had a good night no complaints We will be back .
Celebrated a family birthday. Booked over the phone and staff were friendly and helpful. When we arrived at The Old Colliery, the restaurant was clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, they were always ‘just there’ when we needed anything. The food was great and steaks cooked as per our individual preferences. The music was not loud which created a nice ambiance.
Excellent service and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and I loved the special dog table with fresh water, bowls, dog biscuits and the best touch was the special dog menu. Love that it is dog friendly… our dog really enjoyed his sausage and veg dinner and had a full belly after. He also got spoilt with lots of attention and cuddles. They catered for my allergy, which was no problem at all. We will be back soon.
Friendly, welcoming staff and so dog friendly with a doggy menu! 😊 Good, hearty pub grub at good prices with certain offers on each day. Would recommend a visit!
First time visiting this pub, and we'll definitely be back. The staff were so friendly and our food was beautiful as was our dog, Nalas'. They actually have a doggy menu of fresh food which Nala devoured. Perfect place to spend a few hours having food and drinks that you dont have to hurry home to the dog as you have them with you.
