Only stopped briefly on a long car journey. Nicely decorated. Shame all the windows were broken. Not sure what happened there (likely not any fault of theirs). Only saw one staff member and she was great. The placement of the baby changing facilities was weird and very dark. Had to use the light on my phone to see and hope no one walked into the toilets and hit me with the door. It was empty on a sunny Saturday which struck us as odd as we couldn't see why as it seemed like a nice place. They had art with price tags on the walls, I assume local artists maybe. I don't know much about art but i liked them so good art imo. Plus I like that they support the artists that way. Yeah would go again.
Nicely cooked burger and chicken, chips good too. Service slightly slow but served with a smile. Some reviews said the beers were excellent but I wonder if they were thinking of another pub as there weren't many real ales at all. I counted 2.
This is a great pub to visit with seating in and out. All the staff are friendly and good food with decent prices together with kids menu. Good selection of beers and ample parking. Weekends can be busy especially Sunday Carvery but worth sampling and perhaps booking.. Band night is worth keeping an eye out for, so I'm told😜 The only down side guys, is that if you want a quick 'in and out lunch' be it with four or five us, with a pint IMHO you'll finish the pint before it arrives. However, well worth the stop 😁
5 of us from a walking group booked a table for after the walk. We were able to pre book our meals at 0945 for our return after 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Food was excellent as was the service. We have always been well looked after every time we use The Old Angel as a start point.
Fabulous meal. Sat outside. Great service . Friendly staff owner served food and she is making a great job of the business. Superb food. Was the top of the bill at £20.50 each but the steaks were superb. Good covered area for owners with dogs - the dogs cannot go into the pub itself which is tricky if you are on your own. Immaculate toilets. This was a spontaneous celebration for a personal major achievement. Great beer too.
