At The Oak on the Green, we serve generous portions of freshly cooked food throughout the day. Using great quality ingredients sourced locally where possible; along with a fantastic selection of interesting ales and lagers from local brewers, and a carefully selected wine list.
I have been going to the Oak for years in fact in was my favourite place. However, my last two visits the service has been slow (took an hour for three sandwiches to be delivered to the table, in a half empty restaurant) which were cold and only half filled. I thought maybe It was just a bad day, so visited again., the pie we had was so hard on the top (probably where it had been sitting under a heat lamp for so long) we couldn’t eat it.The Brie starter has been changed and was tasteless. Both occasions we have given feedback. Menu has changed more in line with a chain unfortunately, and is limited. Please go back to your great menu, with good service and produce that is quality and freshly cooked.
Gorgeous food here, the menu gives some good choices and is quite varied. We enjoyed the fish and chips, the fajitas and the roasted veg with quinoa and everyone loved their dessert. Staff are attentive and the service exemplary. The manager Paul hospitality at its best, he even gave our American friends a present to take home 😉
Mid week meal with my niece, good selection of beers, Moretti is a fave! Good food, over indulged, the Banofee pie was yummy. My steak was medium rare, definitely no complaints. Thank you
Really disappointed. I've had better microwave meals. After being fairly put off by reviews for other local pubs/restaurants we decided to stop off here for lunch, the surrounding areas are very picturesque but unfortunately the food was no where near good enough. The staff came across as unsociable and awkward when taking our order and serving food/drinks. Even to the point where we were asked how our food was before we had even taken a bite. Then there's the food... the photo alone should enthasise the blandness of our meals, and overload of salad without dressing with my partners Sandwich and my burger with frozen deep fried chips. Don't be fooled by the additional cheese option for £1.50 like I did, it was still flavourless and dry. Due to the terrible customer service I decided not to voice my opinion on the food and asked directly for the bill, skipping a sighting of the desert menu. Somehow I paid £4.70 for a pint of draught Coke which was charged as two separate orders. To conclude, the food was no where near good enough, the waitresses all need training and to be motivated in customer service. The overall menu is highly over-priced for what it is. I will not be returning, nor would I recommend visiting.
I came here thinking they have changed the service and the food quality unfortunately was not. The food was average, the service very slow. They can not deal with a busy restaurant, this is more a Mexican restaurant than. English since they have a lot of Tex-Mex food in their menu… the dessert menu is very poor. They do have parking and outdoors seating.
