Food has gone a little downhill. Been in twice both the food portion size serving was good, but the quality of cooking and attention of the food was poor and the cost wasn't appropriate. Undone food, service was poor and the food was presented different to the menu suggestions.

Visited on Christmas Eve with the family. We ordered a range of delicious sharing platters, drank some beer and some wine and a few shots and had a lovely evening. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was some early confusion about the timing of the booking and when the kitchen closed, but all was resolved on the night. Thank you to all the staff, and thanks for my duck!! We live in France, so it’s always nice to go to a pleasant traditional pub.

Very nice pub/restaurant. Lovely team of people to look after you. The place has a warm inviting feel to it and you feel that as soon as you go through the front door. The accommodation is good although a little "unwell" the bathroom sealant isn't sticking anymore. The shower cubicle wasn't sealed very well. Holes in the walls and looked tired. However, the bed was very comfortable and clean. The selection of food from the menu is very nice and plenty of choice. The hunters chicken in my opinion is very, very nice! The only let down was the breakfast. The full English had sausages that were mystery bags and extremely cheap. The bacon was fried to its death and the scrambled egg was a watery as a pond. Over all, I would recommend "The Oak" as a place to stay, with a warm friendly welcome and a tasty evening meal. There was one particular gentleman from behind the bar that was extremely helpful with our drinks as they didn't have what we ordered but he came up with an alternative that was wonderful. Plenty of parking in a quiet village. Definitely recommend this place! 👏👏👏

I write this review as I’m very poorly with what I can only say is food poisoning. I had the shared combo platter (cheese was over cooked alongside garlic bread) and the chicken burger and today I am so unwell. I 100% know it’s the oak as I didn’t eat anything else yesterday. We were told when ordering it would be a 30 minute wait. Within minutes our shared platter came out and we hadn’t even finished and they bought our mains out? Didn’t get to breathe in between courses. The buttermilk batter around the chicken was solid I could drop it from a height and it would make a noise, not break. The other meal with sausages came out burnt. The lamb was stunning and we all wish we had it, but it was the only 1 meal out of 4 we could eat again. When we mentioned the service and the food that wasn’t quite edible (clearly) they took off a drink and packet of crisps. Nah sorry. I requested they took my main meal off has I only ate half. God knows how poorly I’d be if I ate it all…. Got such a good opportunity with this pub so it was sad to see poor service and poor food when the menu looked so good.
