Referred here by local and looked at reviews before visiting. We were immediately greeted and seated next to the bar when we walked in. Took about 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Ordered cocktails, the wings and mussels. The drinks were served promptly with the food following within 10-15 minutes. Some of the wings were perfect while others were so dry we couldn't eat them. It was like two separate batches were combined for one order. The mussels were excellent. We then ordered the burger and fish and chips. The burger was small, dry and cooked beyond well done. I realized afterwards that I was not asked how I wanted it cooked; so, maybe that's the way the order was entered. The fish and chips were standard. Even though we were seated directly across from the bar, we had to carry our drinks to the bar and ask for refills every time. There was a table of gentleman that wanted to leave and they had to visit the bar to tab out. Two of them mentioned to the girl checking them out that the service was terrible. She didn't show any concern. At one point, when I walked to the bar for a refill, I looked into the back section, and there was literally no one seated. There were 3 employees seated playing on their phones. I asked if they were closed and we were holding them up. I was told that they just get slow before the main dinner rush. The service was poor. The food was below average and the atmosphere was nothing special. Maybe it was just a bad night.
We (6 0f us) ended up in this bar/bistro in Inverness because foolishly on a Saturday night we hadn’t booked ahead and we were lucky to get in here. So glad we did!! We had a really great evening with most delicious food, very pleasant and attentive staff and great atmosphere. Whenever I see mussels on the menu then I make a beeline for them and I can honestly say, these were the best i have ever had. Plump, tender and delicious, filling the whole shell. My wife had the steak pie which she also thought was fab. apparently, the fish and chips was equally nice. Altogether, highly recommended!
Great restaurant. Went here twice and loved the food. Steak and ale pie was on point as well as the chicken stuffed haggis and salmon. Cullen skink was a great starter on a cool night. Highly recommend.
We didn't know of this place and entered by accident when passing by hungry, and it was really worth it! Food was great (we had salmon and lamb) and so was the service. If we ever come back to Inverness we'll definitely eat here, and can recommend this place to all.
We were able to get a table in the late afternoon prior to the dinner rush otherwise reservations would have been a must. The food is simply spectacular. The Chicken stuffed w/haggis and wrapped with Parma ham should be at the top of your “try it you’ll luv it” list. Do not shy away from the haggis. Service is all smiles from everyone. First place that we have encountered a Scottish cider and we give it a thumbs up. The honey whisky sauce goes with everything.
