If you want cold food, you’ve hit the jackpot with this place. Popped in for tea on our way back from our travels. Service was quite quick but wasn’t busy. We ordered 3 meals, all of which came out was the tiniest bit warm. We ordered a cheese and ham panini. This consisted of the small scrap of “ham” (see attached). I complained about this and told them I’d of actually preferred a slice of ham in my panini as a posed to a dried up scrap. The lady who I assume is the manager, advised she couldn’t refund my panini because they don’t make them and they are delivered in. Which means of course they are frozen. I don’t expect all meals to be fresh (for this type of establishment) however I would have thought the “chef” can pop a bit of cheese and ham in a panini and toast it. It’s not great when the the side salad is warmer than the food.
Lovely food, cooked how we asked for it (steak). Staff were friendly and the pub was nice and clean. Went for a birthday lunch. Would recommend to anyone wanting a country pub meal or somewhere a bit different.
It's ok... Food - Had a couple of options - the 2 for £14 offers a good value for what you have paid. The main menu, perhaps not so much. It's not bad, but it's wasn't the best - probably the higher end of pub-grub kind of food. The wait was ok. Dessert was similar to a microwave pudding done at home, just with a little plate decoration - again not bad, but ok.. Service - Friendly staff, nothing five star, but welcoming enough. The menus were used and tired.. could do with replacing. Atmosphere - Nice enough, been decorated with a modern twist. Spacious enough to find a seating area of preference, whether it be near the bar, open or a little nook to tuck away in. In general.. it's ok.
Always loved coming to The Half Moon, but yesterday's sunday roast wasn't the best. 11/06/2023, the mash potato was Smash and wasn't mixed properly it still.had powder in the middle, I had the bottom end of a stalk for both cauliflower and broccoli and the carrots were cold, not enough gravy as this was soaked up by the Yorkshire puddings with were very nice indeed. Just an idea to get your staff to come and ask how the food is around the 10 minute mark ? The scampi and fish platter that others in our party ate went down a treat
