About us

Coltishall is a bustling riverside village that is sometimes referred to as the 'Gateway to the Broads', as it marks the start of the navigable portion of the River Bure. A contender for one of the most picturesque spots throughout Broadland, Coltishall Common is bounded by attractive properties on one side and acres of stunning marshland on the other, while we are lucky to have numerous walks and cycle routes on our doorstep.

Went for a work Christmas lunch. Huge portions of good quality. I was late arriving but they had boxed up my pre-ordered starter for me, which was nice. Car park can get very busy. Excellent service and pleasant ambience.

Lovely location but beware do not order the cottage pie it's awful. Nothing like a traditional dish and had long pieces of stringy meat which seemed neverending and very difficult to eat. Some of it was dry and burnt on to the dish. Not much flavour either. It was very expensive too. I think I made a bad choice but you wouldn't think you could go far wrong choosing cottage pie . Never again!

We came here for our works Xmas meal, and it did not disappointing. The food was excellent. Staff went above and beyond for someone in our party with allergies and nothing was too much effort. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable despite being really busy. Service was quick too which was surprising as it was packed! Only thing we had issues with was the parking, bit other wise highly recommend the rising sun.

Fabulous 👌 pub on the Broads. It is very popular in good weather and you can't book in summer. Only in winter. Starters around 7 quid. Mains around 15-20 quid. Both starters and mains portion sizes are enormous. Staff are numerous and very quick to bring your drinks and food. Highly recommended the mussels.

Went out on a boat at the Broads with the family and so popped by for roast as it was close. Pub was easy to miss as it was right next to King's Head, and parking was a bit hard as it was so packed! I guess it's because both pubs use the same car park, neither does it help when there's no lines painted so people were just parking all over the place. Apart that, the service was great, they were quick to seat us, despite us being a table of 11 walking in. You can opt to sit inside or outside, children and pet friendly. We also got the view of the Broads too and lots of people were kayaking along it. I'd highly recommend the roast, lots of gravy served. I would only fault on their Yorkshire pudding as it felt a bit dry (despite the gravy!) and not that many veg selection. Worth the price too.. Oh, the pizza was very good too; they're freshly cooked from their pizza oven! Overall, I'd highly recommend and would be returning if I was in the area. EDIT: be warned! Kitchen closes at 8 pm!
