A family run pub which offers a selection of good quality locally source traditional British pub grub freshly prepared everyday. Serving a fantastic range of gins, cocktails, real ales and a fine selection of wines. We are dog friendly too.
The Black and Grey is a quirky, family owned pub in the heart of Morpeth, offering an array of fab Cocktails and a hearty 'pub grub' style menu.
Steeped in history, it was originally a coaching Inn dating back to the 17th century, playing a key role as did many of Morpeth's public houses throughout the years.
Only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Morpeth we pride ourselves in retaining and maintaining traditional values, service, quality, atmosphere, standards and a happy house for all to enjoy.
Our delicious new menu includes a traditional Sunday Roast complete with homemade Yorkshire puddings, delicious roasties and red wine gravy.
As always we have great Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free alternatives, including our fabulous Nut Roast.

The food took over an hour to come out and parts were wrong, also got overcharged as the server hadn't put us down for the 3 for £15 on small plates (something I overlooked as it was an honest mistake). Frustrating because it has so much potential! The atmosphere was great - quiet and cozy earlier in the evening but fun-natured as people came in for their nights out.
Ordered two of their hot chocolate cocktails. Sent one back because the cream was horrendously curdled. It came back, still curdled. Got up and left - was going to order food, but if you can't get a cocktail right... Second cocktail was slightly better I guess? It didn't go back but wasn't great. Felt unwell the rest of the evening.
Delicious burger, reyt enjoyed it. Nice beer, bar staff lovely and accommodating. It was quiet when we went it but I feel like that place deserves to be busier.
A positively thriving atmosphere coupled with stellar homemade food made my experience at The Black & Grey an extremely enjoyable one! I ordered Tempura expecting frozen food and instead I received audibly crispy tempura and a healthy portion of fries alongside it all for £12! To say I was pleased was an understatement. There was a pub quiz on too, the quizmaster was brilliant and all attendees were a joy to be around. All in all I can whole heartedly recommend this contemporary pub to anyone who's interested in cheap, high quality food and who enjoy a lively atmosphere!
Excellent service by the staff. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Food and Drinks were both lovely and very reasonably priced. Very accessible only downside being there is no disabled access toilet. However, overall a really positive experience. Thank you
