Been coming to this absolute gem of a Pub for over 30+ year's. Starting from here whilst doing The Cheviots Challenge...and finishing here...a great way to end a great walk in one of the most stunning areas around... Always a good pint ( or 2) in this very well run Pub. Tried the tasty hearty Pub food here too.... Always a great atmosphere.... Summer month's can be spent in the beer garden....Winter month's spent in front of the cosy log fire....!! If you're passing through...pop in.... If you're staying....lucky you....!!! Support this friendly Pub...you won't be disappointed...!!!
The kind lady behind the bar was explaining their new ownership. Myself and friends called in for food and drinks after a long walk. Cosy warm little pub offering a decent enough range of food at a reasonable cost. There was no suggestion of any GF options, but was considerate of allergies.
Just went for Sunday lunch. They served brilliant food at a reasonable cost. The owners have recently taken over and they intend to carry out refurbishments. Simply the best crumble ever!
Stayed at Alwinton and popped into the Rose and Thistle for a bite to eat and a drink. The food was absolutely delicious and one thing I loved was the children's menu is a smaller portion of the menu. Dogs are allowed in the bar and the atmosphere was very comfortable and friendly. I was alone (apart from the dog) but was perfectly at ease to sit and eat on my own, in some places I have not felt comfortable eating alone. The bar staff were very young but knew what they were doing and the service was good. I will certainly go back next time I am in the area.
New chef and management have really improved this lovely pub. We received a warm welcome and had a very tasty lunch. Nice view of the Cheviots from the bar and beer gardens.
