The inn is a local family run establishment situated only 500 metres from Hadrians Wall. The Milecastle is a traditional pub serving home cooked food and fine real ales. You can even relax and enjoy a drink or two in our beer garden over looking Hadrians Wall.
The best steak and kidney pie I and my wife have ever had!! Lovely ,cosy proper pub. Great location for a stop off after walking Hadrians Wall. Or visiting the Vindolanda. The person serving was very attentive and great customer service. We highly recommend this pub for a meal. And a really great location. Up the hill from the pub is an all-year 5* caravan park. With excellent facilities. Will definitely be going back for seconds.
We were staying in the area on a short break but called in on our way back from walking Hadrians wall. The landlady was very freindly and welcoming. It is a lovely country style pub. Just the place to relax and have a drink after a long walk. We didn't eat but there was a good selection of meals and specials (will make time to eat here next time.) Met some locals who were lovely.
We ate here last night, it has lovely atmosphere. We had the minted lamb pie, and fish and chips, both tasted excellent and the portions were very generous. The staff were friendly and polite with quick service, would definitely recommend
We had the nicest lunch here! Such a lovely pub with brilliant staff. The burger was the best pub burger I have ever had. Merry Christmas!
We went for a meal at lunchtime. Not my first visit here. Highly recommended for a good selection of pub food that scores highly on my personal rating scale. Gluten free and Vegan options available. Excellent service from friendly staff. Booking essential at peak tourist season. This is on The Military Road just south of Hadrian’s Wall. Fantastic views and well worth a visit.
