Food was niceish but expected better given the “brand” and price. We had Sunday lunch : good Yorkshires and veg, but pretty bland meat and stale-tasting roast potatoes. Beef looked like it might be better than the pork. Overall, this place is resting on its name and needs to up its game.
Such an odd place to eat. Came away thinking we won't eat there again.... Ultimately its a fairly expensive place to eat and we disnt feel it lived up to our expectations for the price point. We were sat at a huge round table for 10. Lots of room for each person, but couldn't talk to anyone other than those to my immediate left or right without leaving my seat. Pre ordered food weeks before. Half of our party arrived half an hour late. Food still painfully slow to come out for each course, although the restaurant was busy. Starter was incredibly tiny, basically 3 tasty mouthfuls not much bigger than a 50p piece. My main (ox cheek) was delicious. For the first time in my life I disliked the desert. The apple was in a solid green pastry like base, the toasted nutty crumb was not nice and I didn't like the icecream. Mixed reviews from the rest of our party, but we would go elsewhere next time.
I spent a pleasant evening in this place. The level and professional treatment of the waiters is noticeable. The plating was beautiful, although the truffle macaroni was tasteless. But overall, great and the dessert...out of this world. Went for a second time with work, and the date dessert was unbelievable. In general, classy place with attentive and professional service.
Finally a sunny day to enjoy a drink on the River. Sat on the patio had a glass of wine and mackerel, mack had an odd jelly on the top assuming it is a preserved preparation. Nice server, view. Inside seating classic restaurant vibe.
Amazing meal with delicious cocktails and good service. I understand why this restaurant was noticed by the Michelin guide Can’t speak highly enough of this dining experience. From beginning to end it was really fantastic. Ordered the smoke old fashioned that was beautiful and complex and smoky. For my started i had the scallops that were plump with garnishes that really brought out the flavors. For my main, I had the maple bacon pork that was really moist and tender. I’ll definitely have to come back and try everything else on the menu!
