The Habit can be found on Goodramgate in the city centre of Historic York, just around the corner from York Minster (indeed you can find stunning views of the Minster from our fabulous roof terrace).
We offer a varied food menu in the daytime, including vegetarian and vegan options. A wide range of craft ales, lagers and IPA’s and not to mention our selection of over 30 whiskeys and 30 gins. Every evening (apart from Tuesday) we have live music featuring some of York’s favourite artists and don’t miss out on ‘Faried & Friends’ on a Sunday – fantastic music for your lazy Sunday Afternoon.

Always friendly staff, the food is so good, could be bigger portions for the price, once slice of avocado toast for £9 seems a bit steep, but super tasty nonetheless. The terrace is so nice in summer too. Will definitely go back
They advertise a separate vegan menu but when we asked for it, was told they don't do one and they offer vegan stuff on the menu. The menu consisted of 0 vegan options. When we asked again they said they can do vegan sausages that's it. How can this place claim to offer vegan options. If that's the case anywhere that has an onion in the kitchen can advertise it. Would not recommend for anyone who is vegan. The fact they also advertise "as seen on happy cow" is also an absolute joke. Also there electrics are awful you go upstairs and behind a seating area there a double socket with 2 extenders with 4 plugs in each. That definitely isn't safe.
Great place until you realise they’re not open until the time the website says. Barmaid snatched our drinks (which we’d paid for). Would not recommended, guy that served us was lovely but other than that a big no.
We always meet up with friends here on a night out or just for a few daytime drinks. A cracking pub with fantastic staff, lovely terrace & excellent selection of beer and gin. Can be tricky to find a seat at busier times but that's just testament to how much everyone loves The Habit! Good vegan options, regular live music and perfectly situated.
Lovely little pub and they had an open mic night when we walked in. Very mellow atmosphere and chilled vibe, it was a Wednesday night and I'm sure it's much more lively on the weekends... All the same, it's a great pub!!
