Located on the outskirts of York and a short drive from Wetherby, Harrogate and Leeds, we are a country pub with accommodation.
With rolling hills on one side of the pub and a chocolate box village on the other, you’re nestled in the perfect location to enjoy a tipple, dine in our restaurant or stay the night in one of our three letting rooms. Offering traditional English dishes served to a high quality along with dishes with a more contemporary twist we make sure our customer service matches the high standard of the food.
Recommended here Tuesday lunch January very quiet, very well looked after, heating turned up, food fantastic, oysters first then starter squid rings superb, then another starter belly pork very tasty and beautifully cooked both brought at the same time, would have been better separate. My wifes two starters also superb she said best meal she had had for quite some time, with a good bottle of white wine. Could not get better anywhere will definitely be back, maybe will try for a busier time. Thank you staff.
Lovely pub and full of character. I went for a drink with my fiancée and it had a warm atmosphere and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There were lots of interesting things about the pub, from the food and drinks on the menu to the distinct parts of the pub such as the "ski lodge" where we sat to have our drinks. We really enjoyed ourselves and we'll have to go again!
What a fab menu and well presented. Very nice and helpful staff. High quality food and different from the norm. They have a new ski lodge to the rear offering fondue and other alpine dishes. Sounds amazing
Food is very good and fishy as you might imagine. We did think though that some of the dishes were well over seasoned. Very liberal with salt sadly. Still very tasty. Good service. Food cooked to order which is great. Sweets are amazing. Recommended. Did not use hotel.
We visited here as a family of 5 for a small celebration meal. The place is a stunning find, and I liked that they had a little yurt out the front. Food was stunning, and we all had different meals so tried many items. The starters are quite expensive, but when they came they were huge portions. Tables were decent and spacious, and chairs were comfortable. There were a couple of bad points; firstly the service wasn't great. We would have bought more drinks had someone come and asked us. Secondly they didn't have a beer menu on the table so had no idea what beers/ales were on at the bar. All in all a very nice meal, we will definitely be back.
