My partner & myself came here on Saturday 20th January for our lunch at 1pm. We walked into a beautiful little bar with an open fire. The friendly staff member welcomed us & took us to our table in the restaurant area. We both had haggis & black pudding stack in peppercorn sauce for a starter. It was delicious. For the main course, my partner had the prawn & salmon parcel with salad. I had the cod loin with prawns in sauce, along with veg & beef dripping chips. The food was beautiful! We shared a bottle of white wine between us. Needless to say, we're both coming back. You need to give it a try.
Excellent service from the female staff, the guy was not friendly or helpful. Food was just ok, cost was high for what you get. Not worth the drive and certainly not worth £200+
Staff, food, accommodation were fantastic. Live music on the Sunday evening whilst we were there was a real pleasant experience. A really popular pub where pet dogs are allowed. The food was outstanding. I can honestly say we will be returning to stay again.…. highly recommended
A wonderful, cosy pub at the foot of the Yorkshire Moors serving excellent food. The inn could not have been more hospitable and comfortable. From correcting errors with our booking to the service and house keeping we couldn't rate this location high enough. Definitely a year round location with a range of activities on its door step in a lovely quiet village.
Been here 3 times now and find it perfect for our needs. It's a pub with accommodation which is also frequented by locals of the village who I found friendly and welcoming. It's one of those things called 'use it or lose it'. It can get busy, but that's good for the pub and gives employment to locals. Good variety of beer and wines too. The food is also very good with varied menus and is not produced in minutes, you have to wait until it's freshly cooked so just chill with a drink. Got a few more short breaks arranged here and can't wait. Perfectly located for easy access to the small and quaint villages of North Yorkshire and the coast. If the weather's good the outdoor seated area on the patio is bliss. They had a wild west theme night on one night we were there. This included fancy dress, line dancing in the outdoor marquee and bull riding. Thankfully the weather held out and the atmosphere was brilliant. Yes it was busier but they coped, just be patient. Highly recommended.
